Secured Advantage Celebrates Two Credit Union Champions

Fears, Mullinax to Retire with Combine 54 Years of Service

IOWA PARK, TEXAS / SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. – Secured Advantage Federal Credit Union announced today that Iowa Park Branch Manager Charlie Fears and Simpsonville Loan Officer Judy Mullinax will be retiring this summer. Fears will retire July 31 and Mullinax will retire Aug. 31 after 22 and 32 years of service, respectively.

Secured Advantage CEO Michael Parker said Fears significantly transformed the credit union in Iowa Park where she was named branch manager in 2020. Despite a very challenging environment, the Iowa Park branch has had record financial transactions, loans and membership growth over the past two years.

“After more than two decades, Charlie (Fears) is retiring at the very top of her game,” said Secured Advantage CEO Michal Parker. “She bolstered her team to achieve extraordinary new levels, and we are so proud of her contribution to our credit union.”

Melissa Treadway, a full-service representative, will replace Fears as branch manager. Over the past two years, she has grown into that role and has been a key member of the Iowa Park team, Parker said.

Meanwhile, over a long and illustrious career, few have contributed as much to Secured Advantage as Mullinax. For a credit union that is 63 years old, Mullinax has spent 32 years helping members achieve their financial goals. From Cryovac workers in the 1990s to Sealed Air Corp. employees in the 2000s, and finally members within Greenville County’s underserved area, her institutional knowledge and understanding of working families has been invaluable.

“Judy (Mullinax) made her mark on our credit union in many meaningful ways,” Parker said. “Always putting the member first, she was there for members when it mattered most. Judy’s contributions and wise counsel will be missed.”

Secured Advantage will be holding weeklong celebrations for their two credit union champions, allowing staff and members to trade memories and thank them for their service. For a schedule of events, contact the local branches for dates and details.
